21st Century Insurance was founded by Louis W. Foster in 1958. Originally, the company was called 20th Century Insurance and sold best car insurance policies in California.

21st Century Insurance and Financial Services, Inc. is the 3-d largest insurer in the United States. The company belongs to the Farmers Insurance Group and employs more than 25,000 workers, serving more than twenty million customers nationwide.

In 2005, the company was bought by American International Group (AIG) and in 2009 was sold to Farmers Insurance Group of Companies.

Today, the company, which headquarters is based in Wilmington, Delaware, writes private passenger car insurance in forty-eight states and the District of Columbia.

The main aim of 21st Century Insurance is to provide their customers with the best service and coverage, while saving them money on insurance. This aim is fully reflected in the company’s slogan: “Same great coverage for less”.

21st Century Insurance does not work with independent agents; they sell their policies using a direct-to-customers sales model. Customers can buy insurance policies by visiting their website or by speaking with a company’s representative by phone.

The company is focused not only on providing their customers with the same great coverage for less, but also helps communities it serves, meet their urgent needs.
