Progressive Casualty Insurance Company is one of the largest automobile and other property-casualty insurers in the United States. The company which headquarters is situated Mayfield Village, Ohio was founded in 1937 by Joe Lewis and Jack Green. In 2010, Progressive got 161position in the Fortune 500.

Progressive operates in 3 segments: Commercial Auto, Personal Lines, and Other-indemnity. The Commercial Auto segment mainly provides physical damage and liability insurance for trucks and cars owned by businesses. The Personal Lines segment provides insurance policies for private cars, boats, motorcycles, and recreational vehicles either through independent agency channel or through direct channel. The Other-indemnity segment writes officers liability insurance and professional liability insurance for principally directors and community banks.

Since the times of its foundation, Progressive had worked hard to gain good reputation and build long-lasting relationship with customers.  Today Progressive offers competitive costs and constantly improves their products and services. Moreover, they offer 24-hour online and in-person services to all US drivers.  In 2009, Progressive started selling car insurance policies in Australia.

Progressive is known for offering quotes of its competitors along with its own quote. In September 2007, Progressive began writing Pet Injury coverage. It is included at no additional cost with Collision coverage and protects dogs and cats that are injured in a crash.
